There is growing sense that order is being restored to America. Though it was met with
outrage and shock when it was implemented by the Pentagon early last year, Operation
Vital Archer has put the military in a lead role in the management of civilian authorities,
completely supplanting the police and fire departments in many urban centers.
As energy costs continue to hold steady at sky-high rates, many Americans have come to
depend on the military for basic needs like food and fresh water. The promise of basic
goods as well as semblance of order has caused many Americans to flee outlying suburban
areas for the increasingly stable urban centers controlled by the military.
