The M9 is a 9x19mm Parabellum pistol manufactured by Beretta and is definitely NOT featured in Homefront. The handgun in the game is actually a P226 like handgun and not an M9. The M9 is standard issue pistol for many branches for the United States Armed Forces.
It is first used in Why We Fight, after being picked up by the player from the dead Korean in the bus. It is again used by the player in Freedom. It can be found laying around once or twice a level throughout the campaign.
It is the default pistol used by both the KPA and the USMC. The M9 is the only pistol available in multiplayer. It is approximately a 7-11 shot kill with every shot hitting a limb/chest.
The M9 is also the smallest weapon in Homefront. This makes the pistol the best weapon to melee enemies, due to the fact that it can melee enemies much faster in succession.
Homefront: The RevolutionEdit
The M9 appeared in a pre-Alpha leak of Homefront: The Revolution. It was seen with a suppressor attached. It is also seen in the gameplay video seen at E3 2014. Aesthetically, it seems to be almost identical to its Homefront counterpart.
- Oddly, the KPA also use it as their main sidearm when, normally, we should see them equipped with the Baek Du San (a copy of the Czech CZ-75 pistol used by north Korea military) or the Daewoo K5 (standard issue handgun of the South Korean military).
- It is the only pistol in the entire game.
- The M9 was officially replaced by the XM17 Modular Handgun System, a version of the SIG-Sauer P320, as the standard sidearm of the U.S. military in January 2017.
