"These photos came to me by way of a friend with contacts deep in the Resistance. I think we all suspected - no, we knew that atrocities like that were happening, but the proof is so horrifying- it's almost surreal. But we should be thankful for this evidence; it reveals an enemy that wants to dehumanize us. But pushing American corpses into an unmarked ditch can't bury our defiance. If dirt and gravel fill silent mouths, we'll speak for them and tell their stories to the world. The dead have names, as long as we fight in their memory. This land will be our land again. Even now, the Resistance is planning attacks that could lead to victory in one of our greatest cities. This is the Voice of Freedom, signing off."
―The Voice of Freedom

"Fire Sale" is the third chapter in Homefront.

Description[]

Resistance cells are preparing an assault on the abandoned TigerDirect.com®, which now serves as a KPA fuel depot. The tankers will only be in town for a few hours and, if the squad hopes to capture them later, the beacons have to be in place tonight.

Plot[]

Boone Karlson offers words of encouragement to Jacobs, Rianna, Hopper, and Connor on their mission before they arrive at their destination, a KPA-occupied warehouse store where the fuel tanks are located. With help from the Gunnison cell, they attack the parking lot's entrance by ramming a van (driven by Connor while playing "Burning Love" by Elvis Presley) through the entrance before using their mortar to launch white phosphorus. As KPA soldiers are burnt alive from the white phosphorus, the Resistance storm the lot. However, Hopper misfires the second white phosphorus round which hits the roof where Robert and Rianna are standing on. The two jump off of the roof and run through the lot as both Resistance fighters and KPA soldiers dying from white phosphorus before meeting up with Connor at a guard tower.

A KPA attack helicopter fires on the tower, causing it to collapse. A KPA soldier walks in front of the team and aims his gun, but to his misfortune is rammed by Goliath. The Resistance resume their attack on the store with Goliath's help while Jacobs eliminates soldiers armed with EMP launchers from disabling Goliath. Jacobs also uses Goliath to shoot down the KPA attack helicopter, which crashes into the store. After repelling KPA reinforcements, the Resistance with Goliath secure the parking lot as Connor, Rianna and Jacobs enter the store to find the trucks.

After fighting through KPA forces, they reach the vehicle depot where the trucks are about to leave. Jacobs runs after the trucks and successfully attaches the beacons. The three fight their way back through the store which is on fire and escaping to the roof before vaulting off to the parking lot. The Resistance then escape on a commandeered transport truck. KPA vehicles and a attack helicopter chase after them but Jacobs uses Goliath to eliminate their pursuers.

Trivia[]

  • Connor's one-liner "Hail to the king, baby." is a reference to actor Bruce Campbell's one-liner from Army of Darkness.
  • In early concept art, the store was originally Lumber Liquidators instead of TigerDirect. Furthermore, textures exist within the game files which show that, at an earlier point in development, the store was meant to be a Circuit City.
