"Out-fucking-standing!"
―After Robert Jacobs destroys the LAV-25 blocking their escape in Why We Fight.

Connor Morgan was a former U.S. Marine and a key combat figure for the Montrose Resistance in Homefront.

History

Background

Connor was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. At some point he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and later fought in the Oil Wars. Since the Korean occupation, Connor joined the Montrose Resistance cell. Due to his attitude Connor was often at odds with Resistance leader Boone Karlson and Rianna.

Recruiting Robert Jacobs

In 2027, Connor and Rianna led a rescue mission in saving Robert Jacobs from being transferred to a re-education camp. With the KPA after them, Connor told Jacobs that he had no choice but run with the Resistance. He and the Resistance regrouped with Hopper and Boone during an altercation with the local Montrose citizens, who were recalcitrant in being involved with the Resistance in fear of attracting the KPA. Connor was very disgusted with the locals' disrespectful reactions and their unwillingness to show any resistance against the Koreans.

Retrieving the Beacons

After escaping the KPA and bringing Jacobs to the Oasis, Connor and the Resistance planned to steal several tracking beacons from a school used as a labor exchange facility, with the help of their "inside man" Arnie, to be be placed on fuel trucks so they can be tracked and hijacked for the American counter-offensive in San Francisco. Connor also arranged the Gunnison cell in bringing white phosphorous mortar rounds to be use in the mission.

After meeting Arnie at the labor camp, Connor and the others were betrayed by Arnie, and forcing the Resistance to kill him and eliminate all forces in the camp. The Resistance managed to acquire the beacons and while attempting to escape they came upon a mass grave in the school's baseball field. This atrocity infuriated Connor into attacking the Koreans overseeing the burial.

Continuing their attack on the KPA, the Resistance assaulted an occupied discount warehouse store where the fuel trucks were located. Despite heavy losses, the Resistance were able to plant the tracking devices on the trucks. The Resistance returned to the Oasis, but only to find that Boone and all of the inhabitants have been killed by the KPA. Connor paid his respects to Boone by giving him back his police badge. Connor led the surviving Montrose cell to fight their way out of Montrose and continuing their mission in capturing the fuel trucks.

Capturing the Fuel Trucks

Connor and the others traveled to a survivalist encampment in Utah where Boone had made a deal with the survivalists in providing them a helicopter. However, the survivalists reneged on their deal and demanded the Resistance into giving them Hopper and Rianna. This forced Connor and his allies to fight through the encampment and stealing the helicopter. They pursued and successfully hijacked the fuel trucks, and traveled to San Francisco.

After delivering the fuel to the U.S. military, Connor participated in the attack on San Francisco and helping American forces across the Golden Gate Bridge. Ultimately, Connor sacrificed his life by using a flare to signal an airstrike against a KPA convoy on his location.

―Conner becomes enrage upon discovering a mass grave

Connor Morgan was a take-no-prisoners type of man, known for his physical strength and overall combat skill. He holds everyone to his extremely high standards in which he expected everyone in America to fight, not considering that some people are not fighters and just want to live their lives. He had a high opinion of right and wrong.

Connor also had a violent undercurrent. Upon discovering a mass grave, his rage boiled over and he proceeded to attack the Koreans digging the grave, screaming, threatening and cursing them.

Trivia

  • Connor was, at first, intended to be the original leader of the Montrose cell as revealed in the 2009 trailer of the game, but this was changed with Boone Karlson made the cell leader in the final version.
  • Connor's name is likely a reference to John Connor, the prophesied leader of the Human Resistance in the Terminator media franchise.
  • Connor wears a Gadsden flag shirt. According to Zach Wilson, the shirt was specifically chosen for its recognizable symbol of American resistance, patriotism, and support for civil liberties, and therefore reflects Connor's character and personality.[1]
